Ayodeji Okunlola

PhD Candidate
University of Alberta

Ayodeji Okunlola is a Ph.D. student in Mechanical Engineering (Engineering Management) under the supervision of Professor Amit Kumar at the University of Alberta. His research investigates the penetration and integration approaches for low-carbon hydrogen into major energy demand sectors in Canada. He applies multi-criteria energy system modelling, techno-economic assessment and life-cycle analysis methods to address his research questions. Before coming to Alberta for his Ph.D. studies, he worked as a Research Associate at the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) Potsdam, Germany, after completing his Masters of Science in Power Engineering at the Technische Universität München, Germany. At the IASS, Ayodeji helped develop policy mechanisms and strategies to increase the adoption of low-carbon energy technologies in country-level energy system planning across Europe, Africa and Asia. He is currently a Global Shaper (Edmonton Hub) of the World Economic Forum and previously served as a member of the Youth Commission on Science, Engineering and Technology for the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations Major Group of Children & Youth Science-Policy Interface.
