Daya Nhuchhen is an Advisor in Energy Analytics and Regulatory Affairs at the Government of Northwest Territories (GNWT) working closely with engineering and policy teams to help develop energy policy directives and projects/initiatives. Prior to joining the GNWT, Daya was working with the Canadian Energy Systems Analysis Research (CESAR) Initiative at the University of Calgary and the Transition Accelerator (TA) to map out decarbonization pathways for a cement production plant. With more than 10 years of research experience in the energy sector, Daya has published several peer-reviewed articles on the thermochemical conversion of biomass, waste-to-fuels conversion, and oxy-combustion and carbon capture systems. Currently, he is also working on a waste-to-hydrogen conversion research project with the CESAR.
Daya holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Pulchowk Campus – Institute of Engineering (Nepal), a master’s degree in Energy Technology from the Asian Institute of Technology (Thailand), and a doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering from Dalhousie University (Canada). Daya is a registered Professional Engineer in Canada.
