Nominees are:

CGI

CGI AgileDX-Hydrogen

Low/No-code configurable platform CGI developed a data platform, written almost entirely in plain Java. The data platform developed by CGI is characterized by a high degree of flexibility. This is mainly in the modeling of the processes and the development of a framework of templates in which everything is recorded. The templates are not code, but configuration. The configuration of templates starts at the lowest level with the data and message model. Tables, relationships and message definitions are defined in templates. This forms the basis for generating the data model and the bulk of standard technical validations (such as field type, length and enumerations). Templates After establishing the basics, the configuration of Processes follows. Both the interfaces, GUI or B2B (XML, JSON), as well as validating, retrieving, writing and distributing of data is done on the basis of templates. The more complex data transformations are done internally using helper -functions, available within the templates. Of course, no platform is complete without reporting capabilities, so there are templates for this as well. Support for multiple languages on the UI, in reports or when sending out e-mails is ingrained through templates for all translations. Applying 'role based security' to the processes is a matter of putting checkmarks on the process templates. Thus, all components that one expects of an enterprise ready system are captured in the collection of templates. Java code Within the platform, all templates and helper functions are transformed into executable Java code. This can be transforming or validating data, retrieving or writing away data or running a scheduled report. All templates are cached in memory, as well as the resulting prepared statements. The helper functions are built using an Abstract Syntax Tree (AST). This is how almost all compilers work. This makes things like nesting and enforcing order of execution possible. And that benefits speed. Market standards Virtually the entire data platform is written in plain Java, with no use of major frameworks like Spring. However, we do use a number of market standards, including a messaging platform (Azure Service Bus/ActiveMQ) and an eventing platform (Kafka). Furthermore, several databases are supported, such as SQL Server, Postgres and H2 (for local testing). The platform is not limited to the aforementioned codebase which executes the templates. The provisioning of (test) environments on Azure or proprietary hardware and automated end-to-end regression testing complete the platform. Proven technology The recent delivery of the platform to the Finnish energy market, as well as other ongoing implementations, proves the success of the underlying data exchange platform in terms of data volumes and market complexity. An advantage of the flexibility and scalability of the platform is that it can provide a solution to other issues, such as, for example, setting up a hydrogen ecosystem.

Vallourec

Delphy by Vallourec (Underground Hydrogen Storage)

As the energy sector strives to decarbonize, hydrogen emerges as a key player in achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. While addressing the escalating global demand, the development of hydrogen infrastructure is imperative. The challenge lies in establishing large scale hydrogen storage, a critical piece to optimize production costs (CAPEX and OPEX) and ensure security and continuity of supply to hydrogen end-users. Delphy by Vallourec, presents an innovative solution, securely storing substantial hydrogen volumes underground, bridging the gap in addressing the critical infrastructure need of the hydrogen sector. Building on its experience with hydrogen storage, both at small scale (type I cylinders) and ultra-large scale (geological storage like salt caverns), Vallourec devised an innovative system allowing storage of 1 to 100 tons of hydrogen in gaseous form, while offering a superior safety profile and minimal surface footprint, both facilitating integration in hydrogen projects. The solution leverages our material expertise and advanced manufacturing capabilities. In essence, compressed hydrogen is stored within individual tubes or “strings” positioned in a purpose-built cavity beneath the surface. This innovative system enables a secure, low visibility, high-volume storage asset of up to 100 tons of hydrogen storage per cavity, all within a much smaller footprint than current offerings above ground. “A small footprint with a big impact”.
