Derek Hanson

Derek is the Director of Transit Fleet Maintenance at the City of Edmonton, with vast experience in both the public and the energy sectors. He leads the Alberta Zero Emission Hydrogen Transit Committee, a collaborative project that aims to deploy hydrogen vehicles and infrastructure throughout the Edmonton region. He also serves as a board member of the Canadian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association, and as vice chair of several committees that advocate for and support the adoption of hydrogen and zero emission vehicles in Canada.

As a leader in his field, Derek is passionate about developing competent leaders and inspiring creative and engaged workforces. He has extensive strategic experience in the areas of energy, lifecycle planning, emission reduction, and fleet conversion. He is committed to advancing the environmental, social, and economic benefits of zero emission transportation.
