Dr. Cristian Călin - Gas Technical Manager within Delgaz Grid company

Since 2021, he is the responsible for the development and implementation of green gas technologies and decarbonization solutions in the gas distribution sector.

Coordinator of 20HyGrid pilot project - the first project carried out in Romania (2023), by using the mixture of natural gas and  20 vol.% hydrogen in the current gas distribution system and client’s in house installations and appliances.

Having a professional activity of over 27 years and management experience of over 15 years, within the Delgaz Grid company, member of E.ON group (the biggest integrated gas and power distribution company from Romania), he implemented the most important technologies in the technical field and coordinated strategic projects.

Between 2010-2014, he coordinated the first two big projects in the company, run in parallel, co-financed with European funds.

Starting as an engineer in 1997, since 2006 he has held management positions in the natural gas segment: head of corrosion protection, then coordinated as a director the following departments: engineering; network management; project management (gas & power), network strategy and technology; he developed strategic concepts and policies in the field of natural gas.

Member, representing Delgaz Grid, in professional associations: GERG (Gas European Research Group); Ready4H2; Romanian Hydrogen Association and various working groups for distribution networks, hydrogen, biomethane and Romania's hydrogen strategy, set up within the Ministry of Energy etc. Ensure the relationship with state institutions (Ministry of Energy, Regulatory Authority) and strategic companies on the topic of the green gases and decarbonation solutions.

He coordinated the team involved in the changes to technical regulations, based on the German DVGW model.

Mr. Călin graduated the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (1996); Master in Applied Electrochemistry (1997); Doctoral studies in the field of corrosion and corrosion protection (2005) at “Babes-Bolyai” University from Cluj Napoca.
