Mikaël Cardinal is the Vice President of Program Management – Organ Delivery Systems at Unither Bioélectronique, where he leads pioneering efforts to transform organ transportation through next-generation aerospace technologies. An aeronautical engineer and entrepreneur recognized as an NBAA Top 40 Under 40 in Innovation and Technology (2025), Mikaël combines deep technical expertise with a passion for advancing life-saving medical logistics. Mikaël joined United Therapeutics in 2018 after leading a multi-disciplinary initiative as CEO and co-founder of Zénith Altitude, a company specializing in aircraft design, system integration, and certification for specialized aerial operations. At Unither, he is dedicated to advancing RPAS/UAS platforms and electric and hydrogen-electric VTOL aircraft to support a continentwide organ delivery network. He led the world’s first successful RPAS delivery of donor lungs for transplant in September 2021—a historic milestone demonstrating the viability of autonomous organ transport between hospitals. In March 2025, his team completed another global first: the successful test flight of a piloted hydrogen-powered helicopter, further advancing sustainable aviation for critical medical missions. Mikaël is also a board member of the Canadian Advanced Air Mobility (CAAM) and national not for profit corporation H2CanFly. Earlier in his career, he served as a lecturer at the Université de Sherbrooke and held structural engineering and certification roles across Canada’s aviation sector. He holds an M.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering – Aeronautics and a B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering – Aeronautics from the Université de Sherbrooke, as well as a background in Computer Science from Collège Mérici.
