Jim Sarvinis
Jim has global responsibility for Hatch's Power Business Unit, which provides consulting, engineering and project delivery services in the following industry segments: eGRID, Nuclear, Hydropower & Dams and Thermal Power. Jim is passionate about the transformation taking place in the electricity sector in developed countries (driven by climate change mitigation, electrification goals, the renewal of aging infrastructure and disruptive technologies such as energy storage, small modular reactors, distributed generation, digitalization, green hydrogen and its derivatives); as well as the need for new power assets in developing countries.
His technical background includes nuclear and thermal power generation, as well as reactor design in several industries. Jim has been heavily involved in the development of new technologies and first-of-a-kind projects. He has provided consulting and engineering services related to both brownfield and greenfield projects. Jim is Hatch’s executive sponsor for our teams providing services to utilities and independent power producers around the world.
While Jim is based in Mississauga, Ontario his project work has taken him around the world, including a three year assignment in Hatch’s Brisbane, Australia office. He joined Hatch in 1995 immediately following completion of his B.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Toronto.
Jim serves on the Advisory Board for the University of Toronto Institute for Sustainable Energy.
