Kento Tokumaru

Kento Tokumaru is the Director – Group 4 of Project Department at Japan Overseas Infrastructure Investment Corporation for Transport & Urban Development (JOIN). He is in charge of Transport sector and Smart City & new industries including MaaS, hydrogen business, digital infrastructure. Involved projects under his lead in the past are the Malaysia Singapore - High Speed Rail Project, New Clark City Development project in the Philippines, Indian High Speed Rail Project, Rolling Stock MRO project in Canada etc. Currently he is working with key stakeholders in Canada to adopt new technologies of “quantum computing”, “dynamic 3D map” in snow plow operations and other industrial vehicles to achieve both cost-effectiveness and real “net zero” world.

As JOIN is a first Japanese government sponsored PPP fund for overseas infrastructure business and in the unique position which is impartially connected with infrastructure industries in Japan, he plays an active role in relationship management between oversea market and Japan strategically.

Before his career in JOIN’s team, he belonged to a listed Japanese private company (one of the Japanese trading houses) and was responsible for the railway marketing business in Asian market, human resource management including raising awareness of diversity and inclusion. He holds a Master of Mechanical Engineering, Department of International Development Engineering, from Tokyo Institute of Technology , Tokyo, Japan, graduated in 2007.
