As an applied R&D Executive, Dr. Kendrick has a passion for bringing disruptive and innovative technologies to market. He began his Academic Career at the University of British Columbia where he graduated with honours in Mechanical Engineering. After completing both his Master’s and PhD at Caltech studying combustion driven, acoustic instabilities, he completed two Post Docs - one at Caltech in high speed gas dynamics and a second at Ecole Centrale Paris and ONERA. His initial foray into industry began at the United Technologies Corp. (UTC) as a senior research engineer where he focused on DLN gas turbine development. After many enjoyable years, he joined his first start up, Ramgen Power Systems, as Aerothermal Head to help developed an innovative, Ramjet powered turbine for power generation needs. Dr. Kendrick then went back to UTC/P&W to lead a division in developing detonation based commercial products for the energy sector. His career took yet another turn when he joined Imperium Renewables where he led a talented R&D Team in commercializing a biomass derived, biojet fuel for aerospace applications which culminated in being used on the world’s first commercial airline flight with Virgin Atlantic. Dr. Kendrick then accepted the CTO position at Lean Flame Inc., developing disruptive, ultra-low emissions combustors for gas turbine applications. After much success, Dr. Kendrick was lured to Clearsign Technologies (NASDAQ: CLIR) where, together with a talented team, developed several best-in-class ULN burners and products for the oil and gas sectors. Currently, he serves as CTO at Ekona Power Inc. whose mission is to commercialize a turquoise hydrogen production technology using thermal pyrolysis and high-speed gas dynamics. Dr. Kendrick holds over 23 issued patents and over 50 conference and journal articles in the fields of combustion, fluid dynamics and renewable energy.
